Winona, I Love You – Reception

The Southeast Minnesota Arts Council awarded me an emerging artists grant to get started on this project. On Saturday, December 1st, I hosted a reception at Manitou Center to celebrate the completion of my first five episodes and to mark the culmination of my SEMAC grant. There were snacks, puppets, and lots of friends! Thanks to everyone who came out, despite the winter storm and icy roads. And thank you to everyone who couldn’t make it, but enjoys my videos anyway!

I’m heading to El Capitan Canyon for Yeah Field Trip! February 22-26. I was a bit ambitious in deciding to build 8 different puppets in the 3 weeks prior to the trip. BUT, I was able to finish a couple. And I’m bringing some pieces along with me that might hopefully turn into puppets before the trip is over. Walter and I are going to enter the lip sync battle on the first night. So wish us luck!

Blufflings

For the past year or so, I have been working with Scott at LARK Toys in Kellogg, MN. He’s come up with these fantastic little creatures that come down from the Driftless Region bluffs and help out around the store. He asked me a while back to make puppet versions of a couple of them to help bring their story to life in a different way. Here’s some of the process!
